ALPA Safety and Security
Safety
Today, ALPA oversees more than 200 projects that address line pilots safety issues. From pilot fatigue and runway safety to aircraft design and safety management systems, ALPA tackles topics that independent unions can't touch.
Security
ALPA works tirelessly to ensure the safest possible operating environment for our passengers, air cargo, and fellow crewmembers. From identifying potential security threats to developing solutions--such as CrewPASS--for the line pilot, ALPA is the authority on aviation security.
Pilot Assistance
Through ALPA's Pilot Assistance Committee, you can find confidential guidance to address any issue that life hands you which may affect your job performance or professionalism. It's just one way that ALPA helps pilots with their professional performance, health and welfare--and when necessary, rehabilitation.

"As a safety volunteer trainied in accident investigation, I hoped that I would never need the skills that ALPA taught me. But although I wasn't in an accident, investigating one affected me as if I had been. The trained pilot CIRP (Critical Incident Response Program) vounteers who helped me and other investigators to cope were essential in allowing us to represent our members who were involved."
-Capt. Bill Wolf (Alaska Airlines )
"HIMS (Human INtervention & Motivation Study) fosters airline safety. The program is a key tool that facilitates proper assistance for individuals who are desperately in need of help." - Capt. Dana Archibald (American Eagle)
